American Legion, Remington Harold J. Davis Post 247’s primary source of operating funds is our Hall Rental program. Managing the hall rental program requires several volunteer roles from Post membership, including Managing the overall program, managing tours, setting up the hall, opening the hall for events, and inspecting the hall following events. Presently, there are 4 members actively supporting the program, and we really need 6 or 7 to keep the individual obligation reasonable.
We have a current and dire need for 2 or 3 members to become trained in and enter the rotation for setting up the hall and inspecting the hall following each event. The time requirements are roughly 30 minutes to setup the hall and conduct a pre-inspection; and roughly 1 to 1.5 hours to conduct a post-event inspection and prep for the next event. We use a defined checklist for both setup and post event inspection. All materials are provided.
Training will involve about two weeks of shadowing a qualified inspector during their rotation, a checkout rotation, followed by inclusion in the regular rotation. At present the rotation results in duty every 3 weeks. If we get 2 more volunteers, that will reduce to once every 5 weeks.
Think about it. Even if your work/life schedule is busy, you can probably donate a few hours every 5 weeks to keep the Post financially thriving.
