If you have served federal active duty in the United States Armed Forces since December 7, 1941, and have been honorably discharged or are still serving – you are eligible for membership in The American Legion!
*Because eligibility dates remain open, all active duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces are eligible to join The American Legion at this time, until the date of the end of hostilities as determined by the government of the United States.
**U.S. Merchant Marine eligible only from December 7, 1941 to December 31, 1946 (WWII).
Eligible veterans can apply online or in-person at any Post 247 meeting or event.
For your application to be completed and your membership approved you will need to present a copy of your DD214 or other appropriate discharge verification.
Transfer members are also always welcome to join our Post. To transfer you will need to provide a copy of your current Post membership card and submit a completed transfer request.

- Submit payment of your annual membership dues
- You will need your 9 digit membership ID number which is on your current membership card. A transaction receipt will be e-mailed to you. Post 247 dues are $30.00
- The Post will be notified by National of your online renewal and will provide your membership card to you within a short period of time.
- If you are already paid for the current year, you can set your account for automatic renewal using your credit/debit card
- Eliminate paper renewal notices by setting your account to have your notices delivered via email
