American Legion Remington, Harold J. Davis Post 247

Call Us: 703-596-5964

Legion family,

What an incredible weekend for American Legion Post 247, Auxiliary Unit 247, and the community we are so proud to call home.

To our Legionnaires and Auxiliary members: thank you.

Thank you for the hours, the planning, the hard work, the attention to detail, and most importantly, the heart you poured into our POW/MIA events this weekend.

From the dedication of our Circle of Honor to the Empty Chair Gala, this weekend was about something much bigger than any one of us. It was about remembering those who never came home, honoring their families, and making sure their sacrifice is never forgotten.

I could not be prouder of our Post and Unit.

Post 247 continues to demonstrate that a small-town American Legion Post can have a significant impact. We are making a difference in the lives of veterans and their families, bringing people together, honoring those who served before us, and building partnerships that make our entire community stronger.

To our American Legion Department of Virginia and American Legion Auxiliary Department of Virginia and District leadership, thank you for your continued support of Post 247 and Unit 247. We are incredibly proud to represent the Legion Family here in Remington and throughout our community. We may be small, but we are mighty, and whenever there is a veteran, a family, or a community that needs us, Post 247 and Unit 247 will be ready to answer the call.

But none of this happens in a vacuum.

To the people of Remington and the surrounding Fauquier and Culpeper community, thank you for embracing us. You show up. You support our events. You volunteer. You donate. You shake our hands, encourage us, and remind us why this work matters. We want Post 247 to belong to this community just as much as it belongs to the veterans who wear its colors.

I also want to recognize some tremendous partners who continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with us: the Remington Lions Club, Town of Remington, Sumerduck Ruritan Club, Mental Health Association of Fauquier County, and the Fauquier Regional Veterans Task Force for Mental Health.

These relationships aren’t just about putting logos together on a flyer or showing up for an event. They are about building a network of people and organizations who genuinely care about veterans, their families, and the community we all share. Whether we are talking about mental health, suicide prevention, connecting veterans with resources, honoring those who served, or simply making our corner of Virginia a better place to live, we are stronger when we work together.

And I am incredibly excited about what we can continue accomplishing together in the years ahead.

None of us needs the credit, and none of us can do it alone. When veterans, families, civic organizations, local government, businesses, churches, mental health professionals, and neighbors work together, we can accomplish things that no single organization could accomplish by itself.

This weekend was proof of that. The VetConnect Walk was proof of that. Our new Veterans Memorial at Remington Town Hall is proof of that. Our daily habits of honoring, empowering, and enriching our community is proof of that.

I’ve said many times that there is a difference between simply belonging to an organization and truly being part of something. This weekend, we were part of something.

To everyone who helped make it happen, thank you.

And to our former Prisoners of War, those who remain Missing in Action, and the families who have carried that empty chair for generations: you are not forgotten.

We will continue to say their names, tell their stories, and keep the promise.

Never forget. Never stop serving.

American Legion Post 247 family – our best is yet to come.

Thank you
