Parades / Festivals
Post 247 actively participates in Memorial Day, and Veterans Day parades, as well as the Remington Fall Festival, and the Bealeton Hometown Heroes Festival and the Bealeton and Remington Christmas Parades.
Breakfast Buddies
Members of Post 247 meet once each month with students from Margaret M. Pierce Elementary School in Remington to share the breakfast meal, providing the students with role models to emulate as they mature.
Red Cross Blood Drives
Post 247 coordinates several blood drives each year with the Red Cross. The blood drives are held at the Post building.
Remington Movie Night
On Friday evenings during the Summer season (April – September), Post 247 provides popcorn, and occasionally icy cold snacks to attendees at the Remington Movie Night
Community Recognition
Each year, Post 247 solicits, reviews and forwards to higher American Legion commands, applications for Law Enforcement and First Responders, selected by their communities and peers as outstanding contributors to the community.
Gravesite Flag Display
Post 247 deploys Veteran identifier markers and American Flags at over 400 gravesites throughout Southern Fauquier County, to recognize and honor those veterans who have gone before us. Flags are deployed for Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
Remington Gardens
During the active growing season for the Remington Garden, during the 3rd Saturday of the month, American Legion Post 247 provides information, snow cones and popcorn to attendees.
Flag Etiquette Class
Post 247 provides American Flag etiquette training to M.M.Pierce Elementary School 5th graders.
